What the heck indeed. The irrigation
system waters two blocks at a time, so we have
planted two blocks of hazels. Yep, shelter has
gone in to define all blocks throughout the property
- both the western side which has been cultivated
and fescued, and the uncultivated eastern side
(to allow the shelter to grow on in anticipation
of walnuts being planted in 2008). |

Spent our first night there in a
tent. Followed the next weekend by our first night
there in a tent in gale force winds. Two months
later still hadn't been back... |

Deja vu kicks in. Marking out plnting
lines again for the next lot of hazels - planning
on 6 blocks this year. Aaargh. |

Purchase 28 hp Jinma tractor and
take over mowing. |

Year 2 planting, another 6 blocks
of hazels on the western side (bringing the total
to about 5500 trees). |
